I have vanda and quite a few seedlings and the best thing for the seedlings is a plastic basket or cedar basket with no bark or medium. If the seedling is so small to be attached to a basket freely, I take a pencil length piece of wood and attach it between the slats at the top of the baskets and this allows free watering and air movement. The seedling attached to the wood by plant velco grows to fill the basket or hung on wire and this way prevents rot and you can see growth etc. My brother cuts wire to fit the size of the seedling and hangs them on wire from the start with plant velco and as they grow changes the size of the wire. I still like the basket as it feels like security for the baby.
