    Oh Diane! I'm so sorry to hear it. I certainly know how you feel. No joke, just yesterday I knocked a fan onto my blooming multi spiked Phal. Nobby's Amy! I almost was sick. I killed one beautiful new leaf and one of its two branched and almost fully flowered spikes.

    if the plant is healthy it will probably branch. 24" is room enough for plenty of viable nodes.

    Sorry about that mishap, Diane. I had the same thing happen to me- I had a dendrobium that was blooming gorgeously, and one night it got blown off its perch by a gust of wind and the only spike broke off right where it emerged from the leaves... guess I'll be waiting till next June for a new show of flowers.
