Oh dear.... guess now we know it happens to the best of us

And with your abilities to flower these plants guess it won't be too far away till the next flowers... out of interest will these now start to put its energies into a new growth or do oncidiums send out new flower spikes.. or the flower spike might start to side shoot?

How much did you break off ?
If there are any "nodes" left on the spike it should regrow.
I broke the spike on my Psychopsis papilio & it regrew , actually it branched so now i have 2 flowering on the spike.

Like the folks said, if there are other growing nodes on the spike it should continue. If not, well, then you will have to wait until the next spike for blooms. Sorry Diane.

Well, I broke it right below the bud, so there is about 24" of spike left. So I'll just let it take it's course. But I'm soooooo bummed.

It should start growing back in about a month or so ,it may even branch like mine.
Just to rub it here is a piccie i took yesterday.

Note flowers are bigger than this piccie , about 6" tall & 4 1/2" wide without straightening the wings.
