    Default Pack Rats....Arrrggghhhhhh

For months I have had odd occurrences in my greenhouse. Orchid spikes disappearing, plants knocked over, leaves chewed on, strange sounds in the night, mouse traps sprung, mouse poison untouched. My three cats were no help. My two dogs claimed innocence. Finally, in desperation I tried a safe and sane trap:

As you can see, this rodent was terrorizing my greenhouse for months. I wanted to torture him with lit cigarettes, but my wife whisked him away and released him to the wild miles away...Name: 026a.jpg

One of my worthless cats wishing he had caught it.
I caught another two nights later. Again my wife intervened... I know their grandchildren will be back.

Oh wow. I had a similar rat-thing under my house. I called it a monster and everyone laughed when I said I was going to catch that thing. I caught it alright. The darn thing would come out on the back porch where I was growing my tomatoes and cut the plants down. I used a head of lettuce and a live trap like you have and caught her. YUCK. I drove her away and let her go and so far - she hasn't returned. Glad you caught yours!

    cheers,
    BD

Actually my cats terrorize the local rodent population. The one photo'd caught two mice and a gopher and brought them home all within 45 minutes. How he missed this packrat is puzzling.

Packrats in Santa Cruz?? I thought only hippies grew there...lol. I guess they are too smart for conventional spring-traps. The rats I mean, not the hippies.

Most of the hippies have moved on to corporate jobs or died off. Very few true hippies still exist.
