Unhappy help quick!

Everyone:

When i first bought my dendrobium, i didnt know that they liked being a little pot bound, so i repotted it to a bigger pot. since then the roots have been doing terribly. im trying to repot it again and soak the media longer ( its potted in stuff that dries out real quick)... im at college and cant get out for afew days... any suggestions of what i could use as media in a pinch/what i could use for a pot? what a mess... any advice would be welcome.

I usually wind up killing any dendrobiums that come into my care - but have to ask, are the roots squishy? If not there is definitely hope. As for interim media, do you have access to some marbles? or those glass 'stones' they use in flower arrangements and for beta bowls? Or even pea gravel that you can clean up (read boil) Any of those provide good support, don't stay wet.

A drier mix is fine for Dends. when repotting , they hate wet wet roots . Does it have new growth started from the base of one of the canes ? if the roots are indeed rotted you can leave it bare propped up out of direct sun what size was the pot it was in ? they need to be kept on the dry side after a repot , Dends. hate having thier roots disturbed , what caused the trouble was keeping it too wet after repotting the larger pot / more mix held to much water around shocked roots . When you do repot use as small a pot as possible . Hope this helps a little . Gin
