    Default Botanical Gardens Bummer

Bought this phal at 3 weeks ago at NY Botanical gardens and it has since developed bud blast, black areas along leaves, see attached. Also has a sticky spider-like web on new bud. What gives? Ideas?
    Thanks,
    Michele17

Have you tried checking the uderside of leaves for spider mites? Let us know if you need help on how to do so!

A good way to tell if you have mites is to wipe a white cloth or tissue over bottom of the leaves.
There may have been mechanical damage to the leaves from shipping to the NYBG leading to the brown along the edge or they were not handled correctly and got cold damaged.

Sometimes just moving an orchid from one location to another causes bud blast also.

    cheers,

The tissue paper test came out clean. Treated plant with ---- vendor information removed -see faqs on posting----- just in case. I'll keep plant
in isolation for a while and keep a close eye.
    Thank-you for your quick response.
