    Default something curious

    "'Curiouser and curiouser', said Alice".

While repotting my Epidendrum the other day I noticed something that looked like small bumps on the leaves, just a few and spread out un-uniformly. There is no yellowing or discolouration of any kind. I am wondering if anyone might be familiar with what this might be. I have not noticed anything similar on any of my other orchids, and I don't have any creepy crawlies (I took a good look through the old media when I was repotting).

    Thanks.

Have no advice for you on what they are, but I get these occasionally on some of my plants, especially on the dendrobiums and occasionally on my miserable Phalaenopsis. It has never been a cause of concern for me. Maybe someone out there actually has a scientific and botanical explanation of what they are/what causes them?

Maybe a mild case of "orchid mumps"?

could be something called 'edema'. it happens when the humidity is high and the plant has too much water available. if i recall correctly, it is trying to get rid of the excess water through its 'pores' but it can't do it fast enough, hence the bumps. not a big deal, though it will leave scars where the bumps were once it dries out.

Definitely is not from high humidity and too much water with my plants! LOL!

Zits! ..... might be from when they were outside and something punctured the leaf ? just a guess ... as long as the bumps are not brown ...I have seen zits on a Phal. leaf they never did anything . Gin
