New & Confused part 2 -Found a bug?
Hello again,
So If you read my first post this could be aliment no 3....
I have no idea if this is tied inot the wilting flowers & white chalky film in the obttom of the pot..but I found a bug.
I was watering my phal and after letting the water drain out I picked it up and there was a bug on my counter!....It wasn't a mealy bug I looked up pictures of that (round & flat) this was more of a worm 1/2" long with lots of little hair like legs along each side. Like a centipede maybe...I have no idea?
WHat do I do to kill bugs!
Happy Wintertime we had our first major snow fall today!

Sounds like a millipede , they like damp places . You could submerge the pot in water with a dash of dish soap . Not a big problem like scale or mealies or the dreaded mite . Gin

Then draining out the spaoy water, will this hurt the phal?

Hi , Just the pot so the water is over the moss , I would leave it for half hour , be sure there are no air pockets left in the moss , watch for bugs leaving the pot sometimes they will crawl up the plant to avoid the soapywater . It will not hurt the plant . The easiest / best way is to repot it in new moss , Phals. don't mind being repotted . Gin

I have always wondered why the soap in this method? Does it serve any purpose other than a wetting agent?

If you,ve seen an ant or beetle in water you will see a silver cocoon around it.
This is air trapped by the fine hairs on the body , thus the little blighters can breathe. When you add soap it breaks down the water tension so the air will not be trapped & they drown !.

Stem turning brown...
Hi there I will get new moss and just re-plant.
All of this came out of no where, and now that same stem (see first post New & Confused) that lost all the wilting flowers in the first place is now turning brown!!
So let's recap: I have millipedes, white chalky stuff near the drain holes, wilted flowers I had to cut off, and now the stem is turning brown!
I am sure the second stem & flowers will go next
I will go buy the moss today but...HELP!

It is a normal thing to have happen , old bloom spikes turn brown and die when they are tired . The other one will probably be fine
I cut all the spikes off of mine this past summer . Still green or not , they bloom from the new spike when those blooms are done they side branch off of that spike this will continue . But it does not give the plant a chance to devote energy to new leaf and root growth , that is why I chop them . Your plant will be fine, Don't worry .You don't have any major troubles that I can tell Gin

Plant Stem or flower stem (spike)?
By "spike" do you mean each flowers little stem because I am referring to the plants main stem, that had three flowers at the top of.
That main stem running up out of the pot is turning brown from the top (where flowers & spikes use to be) down...
the three flowers & their spikes are all cut off, but the main plant stem is browning...
I know...please have patience with me...
