    I've had this happen many times. In So. Cal. the weather is erratic this time of year. I'm waiting to see if anything opens.

    Yes, there were 2 spikes at that time. Probably in late Sept. One open, the second one formed, exposed but not yet plumping to open. Then a 3rd spike emerged from one of the pb's.

    Maybe it is just adapting to your climate from wherever it came from and having a bit of a tough time doing it.

    During November, I would crack the window that it is in front of to help cool down the house from the high of the day. I am willing to bet it caught a chill at that time.

    a chill and a humidity drop--it was probably raised in a greenhouse in Calif.
