Angry The wages of sin...blasted phals

Well, the phals always bloom so reliably with no care, don't they? Well this year they took my measure and found me too big for my britches. Between the holidays and travel, I ignored their tiny plaintive cries for help. I should have noticed that the earliest bloomers were deformed. Almost all the phals put out blasted spikes. To add insult, two also gave me the phal-ese one-fingered salute of crown rot. I had to spray systemic, as I suspected spider mite, and that's the only thing left on the market that stops it. I lopped off all the affected buds but left several nodes as an experiment...if I had killed the mites, maybe I could get some side-shoots to bloom normally. Let that be a lesson...Name: IMG_0683.JPG

I hate spider mites . Those are the same things that killed my Alocasia Amazonicas. The words I have to say to those pests would be explicitely deleted. Sorry for ur woes.

Thanks, guys. So far about 15 plants are affected! Some of the later bloomers show spikes that look OK. Fingers crossed...at least I have my oncs; the catts are long finished blooming.
