    Default Is this a fungus?

I discovered this thing which looks like a fungus on my phal and I put the whole plant to soak in bucket of fungicide, I also took off all of the things and hung the plant away from other plants, I have the plant hung where it gets sun and rain, I had it hanging on a wire basket where a cattleya is planted in coconut shells with stones, coals and some fiber, I am wondering if it had picked up the fungus from water dripping on it from that plant, it is the only one that has that on it, Name: P_20140710_165153a.jpg

Often times trees can develop a mushroom like substance is that what urs is like. If so, just know that it is non damaging to ur plants and is actually common in high humidity areas. If it is like a liquidy white it may be liquid latex commonly found on trees like oak and teek trees during rainy season.

Maybe if you can focus the infected segment would be better.

There is that white stuff that looks like a flattened mushroom, I have soaked the whole thing in a fungicide for about fifteen to twenty minutes, have taken off all that stuff and it still comes back, this is the only one like that, it is a mini phalaenopsis and has never flowered, yes the roots and plant are very healthy too, because it looks so creepy with this thing on it I am thinking seriously of taking off the plant and putting it on a fresh piece of branch, any thoughts on it?

Brenda, if it is just mushroom. I would leave it as is. I have a few of my mounted coelogyne growing with mushrooms and seem to be doing ok. sure in their natural habitat orchids should be co-existing with mushrooms and don't think mushrooms can do any harm. Does any one have any thoughts on harmful effects of coexistence of mushroom and orchids?

How old is the wood? It could be that the wood has started to break down and is a host to the fungus. If that were the case, the biggest issue would be the loss of the mount itself. Unless there is high wind in your area. I came home to find that my Dendrobium bellatulum had blown away with part of its mount.
