This sheath was healthy and plump. I thought for sure it was going to produce a flower. However, checked it a few days ago and noticed it was turning brown. Now it looks likes this. Anyone experience the same kind of problem. How can I prevent this?Name: Sheath - 1.jpg

Is there any growth of a bud in the sheath, does not look like it. You seem to have white specks under the leaves it might be insect damage

If Jack is correct (about bugs) then he may be correct on the sheath. But I have a BLC Louise Capen (I keep it off-site in a greenhouse) has a sheath that went completely ugly (looked like it got rot) and I thought beyond producing flowers that did in fact produce buds despite the apparent ugliness of the sheath. I will take that guy home soon to have the flowering happen there.

I had same thing happened to my catt, you could see buds started to form. And then this happened.
I waited few days in hope if it just dried up and crack up to open buds. Did not happen. I cut sheath away.
    Buds look ok now

I have basically given up with this sheath thing. I have some in a greenhouse and some getting direct morning sun. All plants are healthy but no success with these darn things. All plants are mature size. I guess I'll just have to enjoy the beautiful green leaves on these varities. What a shame.

I did have a sheath grow and dry out on a Catt. I left it alone, 7 months later it did send up flowers! Others that did that have done nothing, so you never know. Once my Catts start blooming, they seem to bloom each new growth, so I don't know really what's up.
