Default Thrips on my vanda roots??

I recently noticed that the root tips on a couple of my vandas look burnt and some roots have rings around them. I don't think it has to do with fertilizer, as I really haven't fertilized them much recently and we've had a lot of rain over the last few months here in South Florida. I haven't seen any bugs present but based on what I have read, it seems like it could be thrips. If so, do I spray the entire plant with the orthene or just the roots?

Tips on vanda can go like that if you disturb them a lot ( when they touch/ rub on something). To me it does not look like thrips.
Do you grow it without any media?
Do you see this thrips (pic below) on the roots?

That is thrip on phal leave i had last spring.
If you grow ut in bark you might have some other kind of insects. Once i saw something resembling thrips but it was springtail ( thank you to entomologist i have at work!).

On your second pic you have root with active growing tip, thats good.

They are growing bare rooted, just hanging from baskets on trees.

Symptom in picture 2 looks like thrips. I would use a adhesive insect trap near the Vanda growing area to observe what the pest is. Loss of root tip in picture 1 could be for a variety of like drop in humidity, fertilizer burn or a pest
