    Default ansellia africana help

    Hi,

I am having some issues with my ansellia africana orchid.

I'm in the southern hemisphere, and we are entering spring. The plant usually flowers this time of the year, but this year it looks sad. Lots of old pseudobulbs, dry leaves and damaged leaves. I assume it is in need of a report ( the last one was ~4 years ago).

Let me know if my assessment is correct, the last thing I want to do is stress the plant out further. The roots have completely covered the metal frame of the hanging basket, so I will need to really hack the roots if I repot.

How much sun does it get? I would not want to repot it. new growth seems to be quite good. It might not bloom due to factors like 1) light 2) lack of energy/nutrition 3) pest/diseases. we could rule out or the other from this list.

    Thanks for the quick reply,

it gets full sun right throughout the year (it is out doors).

I water daily in summer, about once a week in winter.

Fertilise with chicken manure and seagrow a couple of times a season.

I would agree with Sriram. I would not repot as you will do too much damage to the roots, just put into the next size up basket with some fresh media. Tell us how you care for this, water, fertilizer, light etc.
