    Default Dried & Broken leaves

My friend gave her orchid to me beacuse she dont know what to do with it. It has only 2 leaves, Im not really sure what kind of orchid is it because the color of its leaves is slightly brown and violet in the sides, it was cut in half and has a wound.

I wanna know if it is suitable for water culture or the ID perhaps. And the best treatment for it. Your advice wil be greatly appreciated.

It appears to be a phalanopsis orchid. The red tinge to the leaves means the flowers are likely purple in color. I'll let someone else talk to you about water culture.

    cheers,

Phalaenopsis are not sun lovers. This one looks as though it is getting too much. Can you show a picture of the roots from the side. Lots of folks do grow these with water culture.

How is your orchid doing? I had a similar one but it was completely root and crown rotted with nothing going for it and now in orchid heaven. Hoping to hear and see an update. Keep well.

It is defiantly a Phalaenopsis that I would also say has been getting too much sun, but from what I can see of the roots, a picture of the roots would help like Chris mentioned, at least one root that we can see in the picture looks good. It does need some help but it looks like it could survive, it will take a couple of years to recoup. I also have no knowledge on water culture of orchids but I am sure some one else will.
