    Post Sickly Phalaenopsis

    Hello,
I'm very new to orchids. I have 3, I believe they're all Phalaenopsis. I got my first orchid for a wedding gift, 8 years ago, from dear friends in Germany. Sadly that orchid only survived 2 years; I discovered I may have overwatered and not enough light. My 2nd orchid was a 50th birthday gift from my son, 5 years ago. It's survived, by watering with 2 ice cubes every 2 weeks and occasional orchid fertilizer. But it's time to repot and I'm scared to death. My 3rd Orchid was actually my in-laws. My Mother in law has dementia and was sharing her meals with it. Once my Father in law discovered what she was doing, he repotted it, in potting soil since the roots were showing. My husband rescued it and brought it home to me. I've repotted it in "orchid bark". A few roots fell off during the process. It's leaves are wrinkled and wilted. I'm wondering if there's more I need to do. Should I have soaked the bark first? ( I had read to soak them after I repotted). Do I need to mix the bark with Spaghnum moss? Do I need to use rooting hormones? Or fertilizer when watering? Or just give it more time?
Thanks so much for any information.

Hello and Welcome from India. Posting a picture of the plant could help . Using kelp could help promote rooting. Treating bark would depend on the type of bark.

Secondly, you should stop watering phals with ice cubes. Most of the orchids are from tropical region and watering them with ice cubes could stress them and would not help them in any way. Taking the pot to kitchen sink and watering till roots turn green is best

    Welcome from Florida!

I would agree with Sriram, pictures will help a lot to determine what is going on.

Well, I guess I can't load a photo. It says it's too bid, and I don't know how to make it smaller.

I don't know how you do it from your mobile device but the images have to be no larger than 700 pixels on the biggest side.

    Welcome Sheila
You need to go into your camera settings and under something like "quality" or resolution setting, choose a resolution that is 700 pixels or less on the long side so maybe 400 x 600 pixels for example
