Default How do I stop these pesky critters?

I had a mounted Aerangis "modesta" which wasnt really a a modesta but something a bit rarer and currently unidentified. Well, I had five mounted species at work to attract customers. Someone took that poor little Aerangis! The worst thing is, someone who would steal that more than likely is not an orchid lover and its probably going to die in a couple of weeks! How thieves make me disgustedly ill...

Possiblity two: An idiot at the nursery sold it for $10 when I paid $40 for it..

I also had a thick gauge wire for the hook that was wired to the display to keep someone from putting a tiny Aerangis in their pocket.

Items we do not want sold in our greenhouse have red tags to alert people that the plant is not for sale. Other than marking them some how or a different color mount or pot, I would recommend posting a new policy over the front door of the greenhouses. A simple "cutting the hand of the offending employee off" policy for each indiscretion. That should curtail the problem fairly quickly.

    Sorry about your loss.

    Cheers!

Ouch! You do have a problem. How nasty is that. I hope you find the little bastard and exterminate him!

Sounds like you need someone like me guarding your nursery. hehe. im one of those 'for household protection' guys.

someone broke into my house once, and when they heard a remington 870 express cock, and me saying 'theres two ways to leave, on foot, or in a bodybag - your choice' he changed his mind about stealing anything from me.

find a badass orchid grower to help you out!! i'd be more than happy to scout the place out and apprehend the perpetrator, if only you were local to me.

Sorry to hear about your loss, though, seriously. where was the other plant stored when it was stolen? inside, outside?

OMG - - This is so weird!!! I always used to tell people that the most effective burglar deterrent I knew of was the sound of someone racking a round into the chamber of a Remington 870!!!!

You'd be amazed how quickly i heard the pitter patter of little thief feet headed out the door! yes, it really is quite effective, especially in an 870, where you have that crisp, clean 'CA-CHICK!!'
