    Default Bush Snails

Anyone know a way to get rid of bush snails without resorting to extreme pesticides? They're eating the green root tips and some flowers off of a lot of my cool growing plants in the basement. My eyes aren't good enough to search for them so the only way I can find them is to follow slime trails. That isn't working out too well. Any advice much appreciated!

Put out some dishes with beer in them. They're attracted to it then I guess get too drunk to come out and they drown.

Thanks Sheryl! I do that in my garden. Never thought of doing it in the house. I'll have to buy a bottle. Hope it doesn't get to stinky

Yes I do it outside so thought it might work inside. Good luck!

Chris, your issue is the smell of the beer or the destruction by the snails, which do you prefer? I think we all know your answer!

Admittedly, this is anecdotal evidence only, but I experimented once with accumulated dregs morning coffee. Collected it in an empty milk jug, and added about 10% isopropyl rubbing alcohol to suppress mold (delayed is a better description). Doused the plants and medium a couple times a week apart, and the bush snails vanished.

Were you putting the grounds/alcohol in the pot or a solution made from it?

Chris, by "dregs" I was referring to the coffee left in the pot when it has been sitting around for a while - liquid, not the solid grounds. I used a coarse spray, and thoroughly wetted the plants and medium.
