    Question Winter rest or not?

I know cattleyas are supposed to rest in the winter, but today I was given a NOID hybrid that is completely dehydrated. It has a new growth coming up with two tiny roots, apparently trying to make up for the parts of the plant that have shriveled and died. So my question is, since the plant is so dehydrated, is it ok to water as often as the media dries out, or do I still need to give it a winter rest?
