Gin stay safe and warm, Diane keep those babies out of the cold.
After reading this thread I think I will take my unseasonably hot drought conditions and be very happy.

Huddle up everybody! For warmth, not football. Think warm thoughts - imagine our PoP enjoying the height of summer down under!

We've been unseasonably warm, it's only dipped below freeing a couple of days (some nights, but not many). It's made me soft. Now when we get a cold day, I cry like a baby!

The cymbidiums are really showing the damage this morning. I have them inside now, but even the 1st year growths are apparently going to die. Their leaves are turning black. Also lost all the hibiscus, even 2 geraniums, the bougainvillea, although it should come back, a couple of fuschias and about 10 other orchids that were outside, but in a sheltered alcove up against the house (they were suppose to be okay outside, but I doubt anyone expected this kind of cold in SoCal).

As for bringing them inside - well I just don't have any place to bring all the outside plants in. Even the garage is out of the question as I am storing my sisters car, and I have to back my car in and out in order to be able to open the door - it's a small 2 car garage.

Oh well, If I survive tax season I guess I'll have to buy replacements!

Sorry about the carnage, Diane thumb. Can you stick plants in your sister's car? Not trying to be a smart alek - it's unused space and it's only a temp measure till things warm up.

Well, I suppose I could, but then her car is a brand new BMW, and I am a little worried about messing it up.... I'm going to tent up the little alcove by the house with clear plastic today and see if that will keep it warm enough.

If only the wind would stop!

Use the plastic on the car seats and floors. Then you can't mess her car up. It will be much more snuggly and protected from wind. Besides...what she doesn't know won't hurt you!

Here in europe the weather is just the opposite! My girlfriend and I are going snowboarding in the Czech republic this saturday - AND THERE'S NO SNOW And it's the same for most of the other places in the alps to.. Here in Denmark it has only been freezing one or two days.
And they say there's no changes in the climate! ... I'm looking forward to having wild orchids growing in my local forrest :P

I am so sorry Diane. Losing an orchid is hard, losing so many is heart breaking. I agree with Piper, use the car. Stay warm in that awful cold wind.
