    Default Here we go again!

Well its time to try again!

Last night I woke up around 3.30am and couldnt sleep so got up and had a drink and a cigarette then went back to bed, by the time I had climbed the stairs I couldnt breathe was wheezing and coughing and extremely breathless, I was having an asthma attack. So I slowly came back down stairs and got my inhalers and withing a couple of minutes my breathing had settled down and I was okay again. But then it clicked, I have to quit smoking, again! I gave up about 3 and a half months ago and managed 6 weeks with Annes support then for some stupid reason in a moment of weakness I had a cig, then another and of course then another and got right back to smoking 30 a day. So unless I want to be permanently having asthma attacks or make my COPD worse so I need oxygen by the time I am 40 I have to give this the best go I can, I can only try right? Bare with me a while as this is a sudden decision and I might be grumpy LOL

You've had a great practice session, and now you're going for the gold!!

    You can do it, Carrie!

I smoked (heavily) for about 15 years. I quit several times before it "stuck." I can't believe how much better I feel after I stopped smoking. I'm not really known for my resolve, so if I can quit, I'm positive that you can too! YOU GO!!!

One of the things that worked for me (on Feb. 9, 1983), was if I got the urge to smoke, I would tell myself that I'd wait just one hour and then if I really wanted it, I could have one. Usually that hour was more than enough for the craving to pass, but in the event it didn't pass, I was prepared to tell myself I could wait just one more hour, etc.

Another help was a quit smoking meter.
Quit Meter - Stop smoking; tools, support and chat

It's free, and it's not only helpful, but fun to see how many minutes you've added to your life, and how much money you've saved.

As well as being Carrie's cheerleader, I'd be happy to cheer on anyone else who takes the plunge.

Just for fun, I downloaded the meter again, and as of a few minutes ago, these were the stats:

    Name: smoke free.jpg
Views: 206
Size: 88.0 KB

Boy, I wish I had all that money in one lump sum now.

Hey Carrie, I smoked for 17 years and gave up in one day with the help of a home hypnotherapy cd. That was 8 years ago. The book that came with it said you can give up in one hour, and I did! If you want the book info pm me.
