Thank you guys for all the thoughts and prayers. Although I no longer live there I still have family members and relatives that do although most of them live outside of Manila and in a town where it doesn't get flooded. I was born and raised there and had experienced one major disaster (Mount Pinatubo eruption) in the 90's and I know how it feels to be in the middle of all these especially when there's not enough resources available to help all these people. It is hard, I can't even watch the news without breaking in tears.

I have sent text message to my family over there but have not heard back, they don't have a landline so I can't even call. From what I heard on the Filipino news earlier a lot of cell towers are not working and there's probably no electricity

Anyway, I'm glad to hear from fellow members that lives there. Thank God you guys are okay. And hoping to hear from other fellow members as well.

yes a lot of areas have no powers yet, our was restored last night, and according to NTC
there are indeed a lot of cell sites damaged, but thats the least of the problems in affected
areas, what they need now is clean water and food as well as medical supplies. search and rescue is really slow and its not going to improve while it is still raining quite hard.
I hope that your family and friends here are all safe.

There was also a landslide at Arayat and Antipolo.

I am so relieved to hear our members are safe, lets just hope that your familys are safe also. As Anne said this forum seems lie another family and the thought some are in such a terrible situation worries us terribly. Will be keeping you all in my thoughts and again so glad to know your safe.

The video footage on Youtube shows major flooding , cars being washed down roads like toys and people being washed down flooded rivers...terrible!

Last night I made a donation to the Philippine National Red Cross. They are responding full force to this disaster. Many are homeless. This is a way we can help support our Filipino friends
