    Default Pennsylvania Flooding

I have been in Rochester NY for the past two days for business meetings. I am so fortunate to work for a company that cares so much about their employees. I was encourage to skip the afternoon meetings due to the reports of flooding in Pennsylvania and head home. I am so thankful I left early and got home berfore dark. I had road closures with very unfamiliar detours and fog was beginning to develope the closer home I got. A five hour drive became a 7.5 hour drive. The worst part of it is what I saw. Entire neighborhoods with water up to the first floor windows. Corn fields where all you could see were tips of the tassles of the cornstalks which are anywhere from 6 to 8 feet tall. What is worse is that the rivers are not to crest until Saturday morning so there is much more damage to be done. Thankfully I arrived home to find everyone safe and the house and basement dry. I didn't take pictures of what I saw. Camera happy people are the last thing the authorities need to deal with. Unfortunately in many areas I saw crowds taking pics and holding up traffic as they did. I don't need pics to help me remmber what I saw. Those scenes will be etched in my mind forever. Please pray for the people who are facing loosing everything over the next few days. This happened due to 13 plus inches of rain that we have had since Sunday evening.

Bill, I am glad that you and your home are safe and sound. It seems as if these weather related events are effecting more and more people in more and more areas of the U.S.A. and for that matter the world. I can't help but think what a interdependent small world this really is. I hope the worst of this disaster ends soon! This makes me realize also what many in Pennsylvania already know such as yourself; namely that all the material things you own can be gone in a instant. Some people will never feel really secure again after going through this kind of trauma. AL

Sounds as if mother nature is throwing quite a hissy fit this year! Wildfires in Australia, Russia and Texas, Floods and Tsunamis all over the place, a world record high in earthquakes over the magnitude 6.0 (declared in july!), it aint good....im really starting to wonder if we are heading for a cataclysmic 10.0 or 2012 is really happening...

Just stay safe wont you Bill? And i guess its time i put together an emergency kit-Hamilton aint exactly safe....

Glad you're dry. We had 9 inches of rain in August and 6 inches so far this month in western MA. Too bad we can't have a works program to install aqueducts to give some of our extra rainfall to Texas and other places that are short of rain!

Wow! I heard about the flooding in Jersey and Vermont, I didn't realize it was so bad in PA too. I don't believe the news here has mentioned it. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. Glad to hear you're safe. I hope everyone else down there will be safe too.
