Orchid Express Exhibition at the Smithsonian Institute
Hello -- for those of you who might be interested, the National Museum of Natural History at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington D.C. will be holding a very special orchid exhibition from December 4 - May 1, 2005. More information can be found at: http://www.gardens.si.edu/orchidshow...ndex_train.htm
I plan to visit in the springtime and hope some of you will too.

We could learn a lot from crayons: some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some have weird names, and all are different colors....but they all exist very nicely in the same box. ...Hmmm? .

Wow. That would make a great field trip! Bruce, you should set up a study abroad trip for next semester, something about how orchids influenced cultures. It can start in DC., at the Museum, and you can take your students to Central America or something, (and drag me along, while you're at it...)

Wow! Cool! D.C is pretty close to where I live, so going there would be no problem. That sounds so interesting! I'll try to visit!
Thanks for sharing that, Nancy!

Hi Lily,
I'll visit around March-April when the weather warms up. I'm glad to know you'll be going. Make sure you let us know what you thought of it!

Hi Bruce! No, I haven't seen this exhibit before, but I've been to the Botanical Garden at the Smithsonian before. They have a spectacular collection of plants, including plenty of orchids. It's definitely a place worth visiting IMO.

I just went to the orchid show and it was great! Lots of beautiful orchids of all kinds! Very nice. I took over a hundred pics ...it'll take a while for me to select the good ones, but I'll definitely post them here soon.
