Sweden’s largest orchid show is now in preparation. In September, the hall on Kviberg in Gothenburg, Sweden will be filled with exotic orchids from all over the world. Several Swedish and international exhibitors will have booths with beautiful orchids to admire and they will also be selling many fine and rare orchids in the showroom.
Opening hours are: Friday and Saturday 10:00-18:00, Sunday 10:00-16:00.
Entrance is 50 SEK per person, children under 12 are welcome free of charge.
Orchids are amazing flowers and part of the largest family of flowering plants in the world, so this show is really for anyone with an interest in gardening and nature. There truly is an species for everyone. Some orchids are big and colorful, while others are tiny with really weird shapes and colors. Sure, there are orchids that are difficult to cultivate, but there are also a lot of species which are very easy to care for indoors, or would make fine orchids for the garden.
At the show you can watch and admire this huge family of plats. But above all, you can buy many interesting orchids here that you would never find in the corner flower shop. But the show is definitely worth seeing even if you just want to watch and enjoy the diversity and natural beauty. At the Orchid Café inside the exhibition hall you can buy refreshments and there is also a popular raffle with great prices.
Pjäshallen on Kviberg has previously been a storage hall for canons at the old regiment. Nowadays it is used as a gymnastics hall for the disabled. Large beautiful windows allow plenty of natural light, which will allow the exhibit, and the flowers to really shine.
A specialist team of judges with extensive judicial training will judge the orchids and exhibits and award prizes. The very popular “people’s choice award” will also be awarded to the best booth. Many of Europe’s most knowledgeable orchid enthusiasts will also be here to help give advise if you have questions, both about your orchids at home or for new purchases.
Gothenburg International Orchid Show 2008 was a huge success with both satisfied visitors and exhibitors. Here we go again, and this time with more experience to our credit. Welcome!
