Not actually a Vanda - but such an unusual colour dendrobium , I've never seen the like ( seen on that Vanda stand) ; two general shots - I try and take my camera in at a quiet time :and some more Disas on the stand of a specialist in the North of England - "up there" as we soft southerners like to joke - "near the north pole" . ( well its getting on for 300 mile north of me on th England's south coast - far enough for a temperature drop of a few degrees, and the weather is amazingly different after that distance - much less sun , much more rain. This is why anyone who can afford it retires to the South Coast , and doesn't go north even though the house prices are half what they are here, andthe scenery gets to be fantastic.

Another general shot , a further shot of my Society's stand with my awarded Renanthera in the background, and the other two self-explanatory.

A phal species variant new to me ; Rossioglossum grande ( was a beginners orchid when I started, then known as Odm grande) ; a paph hybrid I thought very distinct - regrettably I failed to record the name - I think it P.esquirolei x something or other, but can't imagine where that red colour comes from - the dealer wouldn't sell it...; and a well-known Dend.species, which personally I don't like but I know a lot of people do - my antipathy evidently leads to memory loss about its name !

Epi prismatocarpum ( maybe its an Encyclia now ? but I doubt that - such a pretty flower. I have never managed to grow this.) A trade display of cyprepediums ; and then that Disa display. For any into Disas there are some interesting and rarely seen Disa species here.

Geoff - what an incredible show! Thank you so much for all the photos and taking time to describe the experience. I am blown away by the beautiful orchids - especially the ones for sale. At the shows I get to attend here, I rarely see plants for sale that large. I like the idea of the vendor having a sales table next to her/his display too. When we were commercial vendors going to shows, the rule was set up a sales table in the 'sales area' and do a display in the show area. I always thought that was so bizarre - separating the two areas - like that.

So many slipper orchids at this show too. And there is a dendrobium that I just loved (Dendrobium Agena Peach) on this page a few posts up. Stunning!! What an amazing experience. Wish I could have attended, but, like you, I suppose it would be a very good thing that most of the orchids on that slipper display were sold or I would be in the poor house. hahaha... Great post Sir!! Thank you.

    Cheers,
    BD

Thank you so much, Geoff, for sharing some of your exposure to this show. I could wallow in this beauty for hours and was sad to see the end!

Congratulations on the recognition you received, too!

What a superb show Geoff and thanks for sharing with us. Congrats for the awards you won. I've gone through the pictures 4 times already. I just love all those paphs and especially that esquirolei cross.
