    Default Even in Seattle.....

We can grow orchids They had a show at a local nursery put on by the Northwest Orchid Society. I just had to go see if I could find a paph to add to my little collection. I walked into where they were having the show and immediately texted my husband to tell him this was NOT a good place for me to be alone...lol.....They had a lot of beautiful orchids in bloom but I was able to rein myself in and only get two small paphs. Below are a couple pics of the show and one of the paphs I got. There my first paphs so wish me luck

Left side - ([Magic Flame x Cyberspace] 'Hilo Show' x Petula's Mystery 'Dark Star')
Right side - (primulinum 'Flutter' x delenatii 'Morning Pink')

LuAnn, I did not know there was an orchid show in Seattle this weekend. Very pretty. By looking at the plant tags, it looks like the vendor, my friend from Walla Wall was there. Their plants are always clean and well-grown.

I think you made nice choices LuAnn. Even without those good size blooms the leaves are so attractive so you always of course have something nice to look at. I also think you will do just fine with these healthy looking plants. The best of luck! AL

-- vendor information removed - see faqs on posting--- It was funny because I had attended a small orchid class at another nursery a couple of weeks ago. Then I get there this morning and there he was! Really nice young man, very knowledgeable. I even found out he has a little shop not too far from where we were. Exciting news because he is the only orchid only shop in the area I know of.

Thanks Al! I think the blooms are cool on the slipper orchids but I am just as attracted to the foliage! Hope I do them justice!

That second paph you picked up is gonna be a stunner. It actually is named: Paph. Deperle (Paph. primulinum x Paph. delenatii) and is a wonderful pink slipper orchid. Good choices LuAnn!! [The first one is named: Paph. Petula's Magic (Paph. Space Magic x Paph. Petula's Mystery) - just for your reference].

    cheers,
    BD

Not a judged show-its an annual sale and the NWOS puts up a nice display.

Thanks for the photos. I'm working this weekend, so can't go this year .

It will be interesting if the primulinum will pass on the succession blooming trait. By the look of the bud, it did. That makes it extra special.
