I'm pretty much with Diane! They're great shots, all! The frayed lip is a Dend. brymerianum, I'm pretty sure. I've considered that foray into the Dend. genus, since I love the flowers so much...but it's still a Dend...and I'm still...me...

I didnt see the names so I got to go back and look at them all. OMG!!!!!!!!!! WoW!!!! Thanks for posting those pics! I got my new memmory card for my camera and am ready to go bright and early tomorrow morning! I can't wait. I want Phals like the pink one you took a picture of. I can't wait, can't wait, can't wait!!!
Anyone else go yet?
Ania, was that drawing of a kovachi the only kovachi there at the show? I guess so.
I agree with you and those Dendrobiums. OMG, how do you take care of a Dendrobium? Some one help me quick before I buy it and find out I can't take care of it! OMG, I already want them all!

Oops, I forgot to let everyone know that I posted the names of most of the plants. Click on the button to look at the pictures as a slideshow. If you then click on the picture once, it'll minimize it and show the name. Click it again and you're back at the slideshow. I think you can also see the names if you click on the picture individually from the beginning.
And unfortuntely, yes, the drawing was the only kovachii at the show. As far as I saw anyway. I want one!!! I don't even know if I can grow phrags but man is it pretty. I don't know if I can grow dendrobs either but I ended up going home with one. The buds are starting to open! My first orchid ever was a dendrobium. After about 2.5 years, it's still alive. Hasn't rebloomed, but I'm satisfied with just being alive for now. I haven't grown orchids for very long. Still learning! Glad you all liked the pictures!

Hi everyone. Went to the orchid show today. WOW I had fun, though I had to go alone cuase all 5 of my companions flaked out on me at the last minute. All one by one . Oh well. It was pouring rain when I got there, but I got there! I took soo many picks that I will have to post multiple links to different host sites. I really wanted to get a Catt, but I chickened out, no I regret it, whats another $45? I ended up getting the Angraecum didieri, and Doritonaeopsis Luchia Roseherz x Dtps. Sogo Toshiba and Phalaenopsis 'Double Diamond', all three are somewhere in the slideshows. Again, click on the pic to see the name. Enjoy!

Awesome shots, Tindo!
Thanks so much for posting. I think that thick, velvety Milt that you led off with just stole my heart! The others were great, but that was my fav!
Glad your take was good!

Hey Tindomul1of9 and anyone else. I got to NYC yesterday just after lunch. I bought a neat in bud Paph. Supersuk "Eureka" AM/AOS X Paph. Raisin Pie "Hsinying" - it was in the back of the seller's area, on sale of course. Beautiful leaves. And I bought a Cymbidium which to my chagrin didn't have a tag and I didn't realize till today...
We did LOTS of walking in the pouring rain and the kids were so good about it. I somehow convinced the other 1/2 to go to the show again and we caught the last hour! I bought Blc. Ports of Paradise "Emerald Isle" ECC/AOS and Pot. Little Toshie "H&R" (I don't know what the H&R stands for and one of his pretty leaves is breaking off.... but I got both for $10 so I will not complain!!
AND at the last minute I found a place selling their plants for 1/2 price - I bought one I am sure Julie will not approve of for my growing conditions but I will have to do some learning and research and it's so pretty... Vasco. Viboon Velvet "Perfection"
My husband kept shaking his head saying "I don't get it. I just don't understand..." but he didn't refuse.... And I didn't spend all that much!
All in all, my first big orchid show was a huge pleasure to me!

Thanks for the pic complements.
Like I said before, I almost bought a Catt species, purple flower, fragrant, . After I took the subway back home I really really really wanted to go back and get it and others. But I had already spent roughly $60.00. Next year, hopefully!
Now I'm waiting for this book:
Flora's Orchids
It should arrive tomorrow. Can't wait.
I saw sooooo many small orchids, my dream of building an all orchid vivarium could happen.
I also saw a gigantic Phalaenopsis. The leaves were about the size of my head and neck together!
I didn't think much of Paphs and their allies, but as you can see from my photos, I quickly learned to appreciate them.

Congrats all, on your purchases! Big shows are fun!!!
Kirstie, you make me sound like a big baddie! Buy what turns you on, but be aware of what may croak if you don't make it happy...
It happens to all of us, but death's easier to avoid if you can choose plants that are better suited to your conditions. That's all I've ever meant.
Honest - I'm not a party pooper!
