I am an AOS member but more than to be a member; just to contribute with orchid conservation. However I'm an active member of the South Florida Orchid Society, Coalition for Orchid Species, Eastern Airlines Orchid Club, South Dade Amateur Orchid Club, Coral Gables Orchid Society and soon Pan-American Orchid Club.....LOL

I am not an AOS member. Too expensive for me at the moment. I would feel good about supporting their conservation efforts, but I support conservation efforts in my own backyard (NH and NE), where there is PLENTY to do. Once I am wealthy (!), I will extend my range of support. I am a new, active member of the NH Orchid Society. It has been a good way to meet other like-minded addicts, to learn, and to acquire reasonably-priced plants. Some members display the most wonderful plants each month! And I have been invited to attend an AOS judging -- I'm looking forward to that!

I've been debating joining, but was waiting to see what happens in May. I did sign a petition while visiting them in Delray. Apparently, as things now stand, the gardens will be closed to the public at the least. Figures, since I just discovered the place last week. It's actually what got me so gung ho to get started with my own orchid growing.
I have signed up for a class (beginners) there on April 25, and have been assured that the classes will continue. Luckily, the classes don't require membership.

What I do plan to do though, is to join my local (FLOS) group when they meet in April. Anyone here belong to that group?

My daughter & I used to be members until last year when we had to tighten our budget. She lost her job & my husband's hours were cut. Up til then we'd travel 2 hours every season to see the gardens, take pics & buy a new orchid.
    We really miss going there.

Yes, I am a member of AOS. Joined for two years. Got a 30.00 gift certificate for an approved orchid vendor. Had no problem spending it. I love the magazine. I look forward to it every month.

I am and have been a member of the AOS for years. I did like the Bulletin a little better than the current magazine, but I love my orchid porn. I also subscribe to orchid digest...ah, the pin up! I am a member of the OCA - orchid conservation alliance, although I think my membership may have or is about to expire. As orchid fans, we may end up being the keepers of rare creatures in our collections that may not exist in nature at some point. Although I love the ones in my gh, I hope I will get to experience them in their native homes.

Yes I'm a member of the AOS. I find the articles interesting and the pictures are great. I'm also a member of the National Capitol Orchid Society in Washington, DC. I've been a member there for 6 years. They're a great group of people.

I belong. Have for over 20 years. There's a lot of good people there working for orchid preservation, etc. Membership is well worth the cost of a couple of orchids. Also get Orchid Digest, Slipper alliance, and Phal Alliance.
