I have a few photos too, but cannot post them until we get back to AR.

BTW, before SNL last night, I met Ron-NY at the orchid show! This has been a great trip.

    Cheers,

This is easier in smaller batches, so here are some more. The first is, as Jason and Bruce have stated, the disappointing kovachii hybrids. I really think the species is stunning, but the hybrids bring the overall effect right back down to earth. Nothing so sensational. And the species is slow and fussy to grow, so it doesn't seem to be worth those astronomical price tags.

The outer two are Phrag Haley Decker (kovachii x Saint Ouen) and the inner fellow is kovachii x Cape Sunset. The alba Paph in the background shows the hybrids' size isn't nearly what the kovachii species is.

Second we have Masd Annette Hall with a Paph armeniacum behind it.

For the Psychopsis fans we have a Pyp Kalihi 'Big', and finally a Trichopilia tortilis (with another incorrectly spelled tag). Trichopilia is a genus in the Onc Alliance.

This time we'll start with some harlequin Phals and Laelia purpuratas.

Then a very interesting primary hybrid. A Galabstia (Gba) Green Tyger. This is a cross between Pabstia (Pab) jugosa x Galeottia (Glta) grandiflora. Pabstia is a Brazilian genus similar to Zygopetalum, and Galeottia is a Columbian genus related to Zygos. Here are photos of the two parents:

Thanks for all the great pictures, Julie---I feel like I was there (though it's better I wasn't because I'm on an orchid-buying-fast . Love hearing all the stories (look forward to more).

Wonderful pictures, Julie! And I love your comments too, very infromative. Lots of highlights there - the hairy Den, the Psychopsis, of course, Trichopilia with those unusual flowers, and the colour of those Masdies is great! Masds never appealed to me that much probably because of what I've read about the conditions they like but those are just mouthwatering!

I chuckled about Bel Royal too. Those muti-flowering Paphs are really growing on me, I'm considering pre-ordering some from a US vendor who's famous for his and is coming to the big show here in UK.

nice photos, Julie! I was actually rather impressed by the Haley Decker, since it looks just like photographed kovachii. nice smooth color too, although the wavy shape is of course not judge-friendly. (st. ouen is a very small flower and I would have to estimate the HD as 4.5-5" across...pretty big at least among those phrags with solid color). the species is supposed to be much larger, though. I wasn't impressed enough to plunk down 75 for a seedling that would be years away from blooming under my conditions...according to glen the real thing isn't growing very rapidly.

There's nothing better to counteract the Monday morning blues, than a few Cyps! There was one display that was chock full of them.

The first picture is Cypripedium Francis 'Plum Crazy' (Cyp kentuckiense x macranthus var speciosum). It's hard enough to grow Cyps. I can't imagine breeding them. I didn't catch whose display this was, but I'm curious, if anyone else noted it.

Then we have a blurry Cyp kentuckiense 'Mellowman' thanks to my flash acting up or not acting, in this case.

Cyp reginae 'Rosy Cheeks' is next, followed by Cyp parviflorum var pubescens.
