Default OSA show pics

Heres some of the pics that turned out ok at the Orchid Society of Alberta's show titled 'Orchid Escape'. They show was filled with tons of orchids and displays, I wish that some of the other pics turned out right. The quality of the show was way better than my photos. They were taken on friday feb 23, the morning during judging and before the show opened to the public so the plants are somewhat randomized and displays not completed so we don't know who's plants they are. I helped judge the phals categories and later joined the paphs judges for their last paph categories for the society. I gained quite a lot of info about judging.
Later when I attended the show when the displays were completed I noticed the AOS awarded two AMs. One on a paph maudiae type(Voodoo Magic?) x charlesworthii with huge petals and a phrag caudatum var something with three huge blooms with trailing petals. More awards may have been given. My stuff was in the room where they pulled the awardable plants out later and started measuring them, very interesting watching them do that...

This paph bernice gave out 5 spikes! I wish the background was better

And this phal was quite eye catching. The blooms were huge and colour saturated and excellent colour contrast with the lip

A very fragrant one. I think its a dend

The Lycastes were beautiful in this display. I bought the two masdevallias in this small display

And I came home with a ton of plants...

We could learn a lot from crayons: some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some have weird names, and all are different colors....but they all exist very nicely in the same box. ...Hmmm? .

I spent more than I expected , but I hung out there for 3 days and all these plants around... The were more that I wanted actually. Oh and there was a Phrag Jason Fisher that someone beat me too it, I can't believe I missed it friday morning as the phrag breeder's first customer, my shopping skills are lacking!

I got in the 3 days:
Paph Deperle [in bud,I hope it's pure white]
Paph Armeni White x jackii
Phrag schlimii (‘Allan’s Red’ x ‘Nad’)
Phrag warscewiczianum
Phrag wallisii

Phrag Waunakee Sunset
Masd infracta
Masd Razzle Dazzle ‘Twinkle’ AM/AOS (triangularis x datura) [from the display, yellow, had a society second place in its class]
Masd Sprinkles ‘Spotty’ (Steven Male x decumana) [from the display, orange, sending out more buds!]
Leochilus cartinatus
Cischweinfia dasyandra

The masdevallias and the Leochilus and Cischwienfia are in a 10 gallon tank with ice packs in the thick layer of moist wisconsin moss that covers the bottom. I can't get the air temp low enough though, but I heard keeping the roots cool is more important. I do have a cool room in the basement when I get tired of changing ice, and hehe that room can be filled with many cool growers if I must get more . I mounted the Leochilus and Cischwienfia on wood with moss, my first mounts. I either hope to get either cork for something better looking or have living lichen and moss grow on the wood. The wood looks too artificial right now. I have lichens growing on conifer stems in the vivariam. They have a pretty green-blue colour in humidiy.
