Washington,DC Botanical Gardens
Every year around Christmas my dad, and I do a trip to the Botanical Gardens in DC. He took these pictures in 2005, they are some of my favorites, that I thought you might enjoy!
If any one ever has the chance, I REALLY recomend going there, you can do a short trip and still see lots of amazing plants. An added bonus is that it is like a warm, humid sauna in the middle of a cold dry winter!
PS.See if you can spot the tiny ant crawling into the pouch on the Phrad. bessae!

The botanical gardens are great. There is a big orchid room, and orchids scattered throughout. I was told that the orchids are mostly grown "off site" in green houses on the near-by golf course (for those familiar with the area). I was also told that the orchid-tenders are local orchid enthusiast volunteers and that their "paid" in divisions.
I just moved away from DC...I'm not happy that I am going to miss the big show this year!

Cheers,

We could learn a lot from crayons: some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some have weird names, and all are different colors....but they all exist very nicely in the same box. ...Hmmm? .

Haven't been there in years but they have an amazing Bonasi collection given to the USA for the Bicentenial from Japan, in 1976. It is not to be believed.
