I was talking to Jim from ___ about different bulbos when he was here in NJ visiting. According to him, some smell bad to attract the flies for pollination. He said some are even worse, smelling like poo!
Yours is a beautiful plant, I love the shape and color. Makes it easier to overlook the fragrance.

I know! they are sooo stinky! poo you say?
well, I went to see the Bulbo. fletcherianum in bloom at the "sex and death" expo in Sydney Australia when I lived there and I tell you what....it stank out the entire tropical centre, and it is a huge area under glass!!! it was like rotten fish and a tad poo-ey!!! so disgusting! but those leaves! they were almost 2 metres long!!!!!!!!!
They are pretty things though the Bulbos. Just bought a new one, lepidum. Now that one is pretty and not stinky.

BTW....the expo had a shocking name!!! felt almost like a pervert when people asked what I did on the weekend!!!!!!!!! he he
