Lots of very bright light and lots of water. The medium doesn't dry out and it seems to thrive.

WOW! Those are some huge and unique flowers! Nice growing!!

My lovebird who has foregone life in her cage to hang out on my african grey's cage took a liking to my stanhopea and shredded the heck out of the leaves. *sigh* I moved it to a different room, hopefully it will come back!

Thanks for all the nice compliments on this beast. hehe.. It really does just grow on its own. I had a bit of interaction with it this past weekend. I was moving some plants around, had both of my hands full of plants - holding several pots with my fingers from the tops - you get the idea and walking from one side of the GH to the other. Well, as you can expect, just as I got under this huge basket, something started to slip, I stood up and cracked the back of my head on the wire basked. LOL. It didn't move because of its weight and the fact that it had been watered that morning. Not only did I drop what was in my hands, I dumped out a couple of mini-cats and stepped on them to boot! All and all, I am glad no one saw me do it.

The worst part is that instead of worrying about the orchids I was smashing, I was scared that I had ruined the spike and buds that were forming on this beast. LOL. In the end, all were fine. It was probably a good thing that I had to repot those little catts. They were too loose in their pots anyway. (Some rotten roots).

LOL. Yes, I am a bit pale for spring. I am a theatre professor at my university and spend way to much time indoors in the dark. I usually have been riding my bike on the nature trail and have a bit of a tan by this point in the year, but I ended up teaching a few summer courses that kept me busy. I plan to spend then next week working in the yard and greenhouse. I should start to look less like a ghost then

    Cheers,
    BD

Nice flowers! Only downside with these hybrids, IMO, is that the bucket from the Coryanthes parent never comes through.
