    Default Encyclia Kennedyi

Intermediate growing encyclia from Mexico. Unusually large flowers for an encyclia. First time it blooms for me. Maybe because of the sun exposure it received, the spike is very short and the blooms color is much darker (which I love!) than the pale pink ones I had seen online. oh ... and it is pleasantly fragrant! Enjoy.

    .
I have it in a south window, bright shaded light and some direct sun. In winter, it gets cooler temperatures, bright light and a "semi" dry rest for a couple of months. I find it easy to grow.

Thanks for the information! I will put this one on my wish list and try it if I can find it. But I am not sure whether I can find this one here in Belgium or somewhere in Europe.

    Lambe!

That is the best Encyclia bloom yet!! My kennedyi is still very small in a 2" pot and is not blooming size yet. My adenocaula however is quite large and I hope to see blooms within a year. I believe the adenocaula has the lighter pink/purple whereas the kennedyi tends to be darker like your blooms. Still though, the color on yours is quite spectacular!

I would love to see a picture of the entire plant if you get a chance.

    Thanks so much for posting!

Thanks for the info on the color, Shannara.
Here's the whole plant (a little over-exposed and a little blurry ), it's in a 4" pot, growing in two different directions, blooms are almost 3" wide, leaves are approx. 16" long and there are 2 new growths (very excited about that!)
