Cycnodes Wine Delight 'Jem' FCC/AOS
Everyone should have at least one of the Catasetanae. REALLY...I think they're beginners plants once the resting period is understood and observed.
This one is so easy to grow. After blooming, it will lose leaves and go dormant--just for a couple of weeks, until new growth comes along. This was given to me as a tiny rootless backbulb three years ago and I was afraid of killing it. (New blooming growth is about 15" tall). Little did I know that it would be an easy grower. Blooms are VERY thick and waxy...and smell like an a drug store cherry soda.
Oh! These plants seem to love my oriental Cymbidium pots...

Very nicely shaped, waxy blooms, they look made out of plastic! The plant looks great in that pot.

Beautiful Clint, nicely grown. Unlike mine which got a severe case of spider mites and now looks like a victim of agent orange.

Wonderful, Clint. Ours is just about ready to bloom here as well. It is funny. I have one of these that produces like crazy - even put out a keiki that I sent to Gin. I have another that I bought at the same time that looks almost dead - all the time. We purchased a case of them from a grower in Hawaii when we were selling orchids. I loved the smell and the 'shooting pollen' (they have a trigger- stick your nose in and touch the center of the bloom and you will get pelted with pollen!). The fragrance is wonderful!!
Cheers,
BD

We could learn a lot from crayons: some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some have weird names, and all are different colors....but they all exist very nicely in the same box. ...Hmmm? .
