    Default Stelis species

    This was a species that I collected in the high jungle of Peru. I have yet to find an ID on it.

    Interesting. Might it be Stelis ferax or Stelis hallii? I looked in Orchidwiz and both of these seem similar, but there are 831 different Stelis species.

    I guess flowers are pretty tiny.

    about 1/4" x 1/2" I have much smaller flowers on some other Stellis species

    Yes it was an epiphyte growing on moss covered branches.

    It is a bit unique. The lateral sepals are fused and cupped. I assume the petals are the small curved structures to the sides of the labellum. This is the firsty time I looked carefully at the flower structure. The labellum appears to be facing up, so the flower is upside down. I initially thought the cupped structure was the dorsal but now I believe it to be the fused lateral sepals.
