oh woow, how pretty!
How do you grow them? Do they have to be kept humid all the time?
I am now trying to save 1 Sarc, it's in ER now...
I hope I can keep it and even have flowers some day. Please give me some hints.

In the mean time I will admire yours...
Stefanie

I like the green one (Sarcochilus First Light) the best. Cute blooms! What is the culture you use to grow these?

Cheers,
BD

Those are gorgeous. Are they difficult to grow?

Sacs are easy to grow. They will grow in temps down to 3 or 4c but must not get frost.
They will grow warm but they do not like hot. I grow them in shallow pots and in my slipper mix which is basically bark. I grow them in my heated GH but they are on the floor, the coolest part of the house, they have constant air flow over them and are constantly moist, not wet. I do dry them out briefly over winter and the light is a little darker than I would like. The light should be as for most Paphs, maybe not multi florals who like it a bit brighter. I feed them with every other plant, all year round. In reality, they like a free draining mix that stays moist, shallow pots, regular feeding and good indirect sunlight ie if the leaves are yellowing, add shade.
I cannot give advise for those growing under lights, I have no experience there. I would think the mix and water/food should be ok but this is a guess only.

Those are beauties Roy! I know nothing about sarcochilus. Are they small? What kind of habitat do they prefer? The Sarc Cherie is lovely!

DO not like hot = do not like Bruce I have to stick to plants that tolerate the heat here in Arkansas. I really do like the Sarc First Light, though. hmmm....

Cheers,
BD

Bruce, what are your average temps in Arkansas ???
The species Sarc ceciliae will tolerate higher temps as its natural location, Nthn Australia allows this. Its hybrids are not too bad. With heat, the plants need to be cooled and shady, as I noted, ninegrow on the floor of the GH where its the coolest.
