I have to say, the background of some of your photos is like a beautiful tropical forest and I wish I could be somewhere like that at the moment.

Thank you for your beautiful comment.
I like to surround my orchid plants as helechos, heliconias, palms, etc. ..
Helps maintain moisture and tropical environment.....in this tropical Nicaragua.

    !!!Beautiful...la nature !!!!

The male flowers produce pheromones that serve to take the bees smell to copulate with females.
They say that all bumblebees visiting Catasetum are male, although these seem to boyfriends.

The male flowers produce these pheromones
then the odor impregnated the bees, along with Polinea.
They are the female flowers ... which supposedly have odor the female of the bumblebee.

The bees smell irrigated with their hind legs

The next day went to call another bees ... and were three visitors pollinators.

Look at the poor almost consumed .. you all suck ...

These are other Catasetum .....male flowers ... different color

Thanks for the beautiful photos, I really enjoy your orchids presentation just about the catasetum only. I really admire on you such having more nice species of catasetum all in blooms at the same time, just like a paradise. This orchids look very happy in your environment. How many species of catasetum do you have? Do you make crossing between them?Zain.

    Hi Zainal..good morning

I have only two unique species of Catasetum in Nicaragua.
Catasetum maculatum which are the most popular and Catasetum integerrimun very similar ... the only difference is in the opening of the labellum. This species is characterized by the circular opening of the labellum without fimbriae edges.

Catasetum maculatum there is more variability in color in male flowers ...
    even under identical environmental conditions.

No, I have never made the crossing between them. But in my travels to the forest, I have seen some natural hybrids of both species
