Default Encyclia alata a fragrant orchid

My Encyclia alata have begun to flower. They are the orchids that I have repeated, almost 20 plants. I have the gift of the Carib Indians of Nicaragua. They are very generous. Abound in their patios ... on fruit trees.

I like most is the delicious fragrance of its flowers .... according to me, the most fragrant of Encyclia... . smell like a blend of vanilla, raspberry and coconut.

Note the slightly differences in three flowers..... in three differents plants.

The inflorescence is a panicle of up to 100 cm with many flowers.

The species are robust epiphytes ; the pseudobulbos broadly conical, 6 cm long and 4 cm wide, covered with reaming and long sheaths when young.... usually 3-leaf. It is distributed from Mexico to Costa Rica.... blooms from January to June.

I let some ... the plants will put all together. .... There are everywhere at home

The indigenous Miskita along with their children, I had this beautiful gift.

Amazing photos, Ana Patricia! And those lovely Encyclias!

LOL, photos of my growing area would be of chilly window sills, with snow outside. The dry air doesn't photograph, but the orchids feel it! Your habitat looks wonderful!

Fantastic growing area(s) and beautiful blooms, too bad we can't smell it!

(encyclia Rufa is an extremely fragrant encyclia as well, smells like freshly cut mango ... if you like fragrant encyclias!)

Snow ? ohhh I've never seen and my orchids less. The Encyclia alata loves moist heat of the Caribbean. Sorry

    Hi Lambert

Pity you can not feel the fragrance. I do not know Encyclia rufa but if your smell is as mango... is delicious ... your smell is as mature mango ? ...surely. My patio smells as mature mango. There is giant tree that produces many fruits that fall on my orchids. I do not want to see those mangoes ..... annoying me

Oh, Ana, you live in orchid paradise! And Alata, if I get my nose really close to the monitor, I think I can almost smell it! Thank you for sharing the pictures!
