    Maxillaria meleagris blooms for a long time and makes new blossoms again and again . And easy for windowsills ,too .

    It is beautiful Andrea but it is mislabeled. That is the yellow form of variabilis. Even your growths look like variabilis.

    This is meleagris



    Googling I see a yellow variabilis listed as meleagris, at Pflanzenfotos mit botanischen und deutschen Namen.

    Oh,
    I´m looking by Jay now and there´s another third blossom for meleagris

    Than my Max is mislabeled

    But I have variabilis ,too

    And it looks so :



    Now I have both of variabilis

    as the species name alludes to variabilis is variable, there are red ones, yellow ones, there is a var purpurea that is very dark and there are ones that tend toward orange in color.

    There is also some variation in meleagris, particularly with color and darkness of the lip but shape of the flower is fairly the same. I am familiar with the pic on Jay's site. That is a stunning one with a yellow background and a very dark lip...would like to find that color form of meleagris

    Your yellow one has nice clear color and the lip is also wonderful...a very good yellow variabilis. many are not as nice as yours.
