Also any tips for where to put it and culture, I am guessing I need to spray/soak each day and feed reguarly say once a week or so, it is in a plastic basket with its roots hanging down which are pretty long, the plant doesnt look quite as healthy as I would have liked but it sure seems to have a good chance.
    hi carrie,
although i dont have the rosea species, but im guessing all aerides have the same root growth. the algae on it is normal, as long as the roots dont turn totally brown and hollow, its just fine and they still absorb water.
water or soak em not more than twice a week i would say, but airflow is important and space as the roots grow like crazy! they do fine mounted or bare rooted in a semi sunny spot.

hope i could help without hijacking this thread,

Thanks so much Ron, So I should not be watering it daily? it looks so dry and exposed LOL I'd have thought it would need a shower daily but I will hold off on that for now then. I am surprised how big it is really I thought aerides were small LOL this is my first of the hanging vanda type so its all new but I couldnt resist this one. I have wanted a Vanda since I started collecting them but after seeing how big they got thought I couldnt have one, then I found this one lets hope I can still get in my orchid room when it grows LOL

I missed this thread the first time. The first thing I noticed was the 'bird in flight' also. Cute lil flock of flowers.

    you are welcome carrie,
i have mine mounted outside on a palm tree and i let nature do the rest, water em only in extreme heat maybe once a week, those plants can store lots of water as they get really massive and heavy. also be patient, it isnt exactly a fast grower, but the roots are fast, just like vanda's.
