This is first spike & 1st blooming on this.Spike took forever to mature (started earlier last year). The flower is huge! 6" from tip of lip to top of dorsal.By far the largest I've grown through out the years.

Now this picture makes me really sad... Your Psychopsis is gorgeous! Just be very careful with the spike. Congratulations for blooming it! I broke my spike just when I got the very first bud... while trying to get a good picture of it... Who knows when I will see another spike and a bloom from mine?! Enjoy it!

    Very nice Jane!

Margo, many times a broken spike on a Psychopsis will send a side spike from a node below the break. I hope you left the rest of the old spike intact.

Ron, it is broken at the very end...I am still keeping it up, but it will dry out very soon.

Margo -do you mean at the very bottom of the pseudo it broke? As Ron says -often it will bypass the break by branching out below the break & continue on blooming but if broken at the very bottom --well that's a different story.I'm surprised it broke as those stems are so wiry!

It's at the very bottom. It didn't come off but is holding on just a little bit. It does have one new growth and another one just comming out now, but the spike is history. I will enjoy your bloom for now. Hope a new spike will come out soon.
