    Default Maxillaria pseudoreichenheimiana

easier to say than to spell, LOL.

I had this species before but lost it to temp drops secondary to a power outage many years ago. Last year an internet orchid bud asked me if there was anything I would like him to look for me at the Santa Barbara Show. This was at the top of my list. He found it for me from a South American vendor but it was a small seedling. Even though it is small (in a 2" pot) it threw a dozen flowers for me. It has silver spotted foliage so is still a very interesting plant even when not in bloom.

I need to get a better frontal pic of it...It was so hot today I did not go to the greenhouse until late and rushed a bit

The flowers are very interesting looking, and the spotted leaves are cool too. I am amazed that you got that many flowers from a plant in a 2 in pot. Great growing! Is it harder to care for than other Maxillarias?

Well, it is a bit temperature intolerant...many of my Maxillaria can handle temps of 55 degrees...this one didn't. It also needs constant moisture and fairly good humidity. It is definitely one of my favorites Angie. My other one was a prolific bloomer as well. Currently, I do not have a growth that is over 3.5" tall...this plant will top out at 6-7" when mature.

Wow, I can't imagine how many flowers it will get when it's more mature.

That is so unusual. I really like the spots on the leaves. It looks like paint drops. LoL.
The name of this orchid is so huge for such a small plant. I want one!!

    Cheers,
    BD
