staurochilus no id, philippines
hi forum,
here is a plant from a friend of mine and he asked me to id it, so im helping out.
the closest i got would be a staurochilus luzonensis or luchuensis, but the labellum or colour doesnt match.
anyone?

That's a very nicely marked flower... just had a look at Internet Orchid Species Photo Encyclopedia which is a great encyclopedia of orchids... and none of them really matches.. it was almost like if you put the tepal segments of luzonensis and then put the labellum of guibertii

You compare with the postings in my flickr collection, too.

hi nelson,
i did compare plenty of shots. luzonensis lip is longer, thinner and more pointed, also different colour, other than that identical.
btw, does it mean it can be found only in luzon?

how likely is it that this could be a new species or a natural hybrid (assuming this is wild collected)...
