    Default Cymbidium Elle Ronis

So today I spent the day at an orchid nursery helping out with the weeding, etc etc..

After seeing so many beautiful orchids in bloom, I just had to bring one home with me.

So here is the latest addition to the clan.

    Cymbidium Elle Ronis

This is a standard size Cymbidium, the flowers being 5 inches across.

    cheers

What a beauty ! I hope I had a climate suitable for these. I was a bit confused earlier, but then I registered that it is winter in Australia now. Tim how low do winter temperatures get at your place and for how long ?

I haven't seen a cymbidium in person to visualize the size. Bet it looks amazing. I really like the touch of white around the edges.

Thansk everyone for the really kind words... I'm pretty chuffed about this and was giving the SO and the puppies lots of hugs yesterday thanking them all for my good luck! It's wonderful when an orchid makes us feel so blessed about all that's around us.

Amey, where I am, it can get down to 6 celsius but only for an hour or so just b4 dawn, but that quickly goes up to about 9 celsius... and during the day, it is usually around 14 celsius but lately, we've had constant 19 celsius... it's been a really mild winter this year.. I do hope this warmth doesn't also translate to summer.

Ron, this cross was created by a friend who owns the nursery here, and was only registered in 2008. The cross itself was done in 2002! So I guess it took six years from the toothpick elven to the flower fairy.
