Brandon, I think yours(25cm long leaf) will need more than one or two years to reach BS. How big is the Pbulb?

Bruce, I hate to say it but it is not what you are hoping for. Nice plant and it should bloom any time now.
Oh no... Thanks for the information. I thought that since this one was growing up, maybe... just maybe it was a spike.

    Thanks Tom.

    Cheers,
    BD

I could be wrong, Bruce. Last Fall, I had a shoot(new growth) came out like that, taller and way out from the older pbulb, and I was excited too. They love to tease us , don't they?

Oh the pain! I have tried just about everything with this guy. Everyone says "Oh Bruce, you can bloom that -no problem." LOL I wish the orchid thought it was time to bloom.

    Cheers,

The pseudobulbs are about an inch and half across at the largest. How long do these usually take to reach maturity?

I don't know for sure, maybe 6-7 years after deflask. It is not a fast grower and that is why BS or NBS plants are so expensive.

Here is a picture of my B. phalaenopsis. The leaf on the left is the largest and is almost 25 cm or about 9 1/2 inches. How long do these usually take to reach maturity?

So another 3 or 4 years it is, then. Something to look forward to.

3-4Y is a reasonable estimate. Your plant looks really healthy, Brandon.
