    Hello,
I have a question, I also have one of this orchids. I have posted the pictures at the begining of this year. ISCHEL1 (mary) told me that it is called COCHLEATA and that it is the national orchid of Beliz, and that they call it simply ..the black orchid". Mine had no smell. Ron-NY told me that sometimes COCHLEATA needs bfight light to give fragrance.
My question is: is Margarita`s orchid COCHLEATA?
My thread is Cattleya from 17 January 2009.
    Thank you!

Ruxandra, they both look alike- I have a baby cochleata, but this one is a cross- cochleata x lancefolium.
Supposed to be fragrant, but no scent detected as of yet!

    Dear Margarita,
    Thank you for reply.
Please forgive my ignorance, but sometimes I find it difficult to know the names of orchids.
There are quite a few types of orchids and yet we have not all this knowledge .
Otherwise I admire you(all) very much for that.

Ruxandra, I have a hard time with the names myself! This cross is on the tag and I even think you can reed it on the night picture?! (is it that one?!)
I am glad I was able to answer your question, but if you ask me what is the difference between the two I won't be able to answer! I have no clue...

    Thanks, Derek and Rosalia!
And just for the records: the white spots on the leaves are from all the threatments I've tryied to get rid of the snails... My snails are not drinking, I've put a penny in every pot but they seem to like money... pretty much I used everything I've read about and nothing seems to work...

Margo-- On my blackberry I thought they were water spots, and it just need a good bath! Lol.

Have you tried Sluggo? That's the only recommendation I have...don't have a big problem with pests here indoors.
