Found in Sumatra, Borneo, Sulawesi and the Philippines in montane forests close to the ground on tree trunks in deep shade at elevations of 700 1950 meters as a large sized, hot to cool growing epiphyte with very small, stem-like pseudobulbs enveloped completely by leaf sheaths and carry about 5, 2 ranked, linear, acuminate leaves that blooms in the winter on a pendant, to 12" [30 cm] long, densely many flowered inflorescence. From IOSPE.
