This is a discussion on Cycnoches Wine Delight "Jem" within the Orchids of Other Genera IN BLOOM forums, part of the Orchid Photography category; Very nice!...
I love Wine Delight. They have such an amazing cherry fragrance.
I wonder if Cyc. Wine Delight "Jem" would do well in a tropical zone or do they need cool nights for flowering? Are there any other members at Orchid Talk living in Thailand?
Would love to get this orchid if available in Thailand!!!
wine delight should do well in a tropical zone. The Catasetinae are native to tropical Central and South America in the lowlands. They do require a dry rest period after blooming. All of the leaves will fall from the pseudobulb and they should be given only enough water to keep them from severely shriveling. You can resume normal watering only after a new pseudobulb has formed and has roots of 10 cm, or so. If watered during their dormant season, they have a tendency to rot.
Can someone kindly tell me if this orchid likes good sun, filtered light or rather shade as I have purchased one and want to give it the best conditions ! Many thanks.
Oh, that's nice !mine is in bud can't wait.
It likes bright, filtered light early in the growing season and can take full sun once the pseudobulb matures in late summer.
